NASA HERC
(Human Exploration Rover Challenge)
2024-2025

ABOUT

The NASA HERC (Human Exploration Rover Challenge) is a collegiate and high school competition where teams design and build human-powered rovers capable of traversing challenging terrain. Our team engineered a sophisticated rover that successfully competed against teams from universities and other high schools, demonstrating innovative engineering and strategic design decisions. The rover was tested on lunar and Martian terrain simulators at NASA, validating our design under extreme conditions.

MY INVOLVEMENT

• Mechanical Lead: Designed and built critical systems of the rover.
• Suspension Design: Engineered the suspension system to absorb shock on uneven terrain while maintaining steering precision.
• Drivetrain Architecture: Designed and optimized the drivetrain for maximum efficiency and torque transmission.
• STEM Advocacy: Led outreach initiatives that engaged 1,500+ students in robotics and engineering concepts.
• Integration & Testing: Coordinated final assembly and conducted stress testing on NASA's terrain simulators.
